I'm active on the forums, you can ask me directly.

The short answer is no its not finished. I have picked it up again and been working on it daily since I gt internet back at home (out for past 3 months). I will not release any details right now to not to give anyones hopes up but I can say that all the new unique ideas that I am working on with 2 others are very exciting.

I don't make the same mistakes as who ever coded the original server with exploitable code sections that you call 'hacks'. The fact that they were allowed to happen meant that some of the logic of the game was happening on the client. This goes against the standards of client-server architecture.

There is a post regarding testing in it's early stages. The project is starting off as a 3.82 clone, written from the ground up, minus all the bugs, bad design, speed issues, limited administrative/configuration features etc.

All information regarding the progress and all the ideas that will (hopefully) going to be built on top of the base code for our own server are private right now. I can assure you, all the ideas are bigger and better than everything else I created in the past.

The section kinger created will be used for this project, and once the base code is completed and tested fully, we can start releasing information about the new server and features.

Is there any need of help on this project? Are you going to set it up on github and let people commit new things?

It is not a new server, its a re-write of the original code.... I only needed to reply to this quote with a few characters, but kinger hasn't added the face palm face yet, so this will do:

:yuno:
Y U NO READ THE FORUMS PROPERLY

I don't have any plan to set this up with source control. The VS solution will simply be distributed the old fashioned way assuming the hosters aren't taken down by the FBI for copyright infringement before being found guilty.

I may, however, provide snippets, classes, additional functions in a knowledge base/wiki fashion and let others contribute. All depends on if I can be bothered.
