Hi,

I have been playing a bit yesterday, it's good to see some bugs solved. I found some already reported bugs, they are related to bad teleportations while moving character to another map. For example i went into Elvine City hall, and when i went out , i was in aresden. Also NPCs like Wyvern, abaddon, and others makes you get stuck, and their graphics are not good.

About drops, i couldn't test it too much but sometimes it looks like that you can't get items on the floor.

I'll keep testing and trying to help you. thanks! keep going!!

I just cant wait to play good server again. These normal servers are old and boring :( . If its close as good as the original helbreath world. Helbreath world was a masterpiece and I expect this to be even better.
Warriors will have endless crits like in world? If not i think it would be good idea to raise crit regen rate significantly and modify the max crits amount. :)

Although it is not as close to World as some will like, it is going to be fresh and new. Everything has been built from the ground up, making the game engine really flexible.

There will be lots of fun new features coming up and I am focusing on players who like PvE AND PvP, so there will be something for everyone.

Crits may be tweaked, but will not be unlimited. Crit pots will make a return, though not as common, and you can also get weapons with +max crits stat. In addition, armours can have up to 5 stats now making crit% armour more viable

Hi guys,

I am going to jump a couple of versions in the next release. 0.7.5.0 will include the warehouse interface, but I'm going I get more optimisation done before the next step in testing. My aim is to close down on Beta as quick as possible, so optimisation will ensure some of your lower-end pcs will cope with the game better.

Firstly, I've found the issue with large sprites such as wyvern, unfortunately it will need a bit of a recode. XNA has a texture limit of 2048 width/height when run in the reach profile. Ideally I don't want to move to the hidef profile, as we may lose some backwards compatibility (hidef requires a gfx card that supports dx10).

Therefore, I am going code a check for texture sizes when they load, and split the frames if required. This will take a bit of work to get right without causing performance issues.

Second, I've been tweaking the dynamic load code to make it quicker and smoother. In the current release, entering pits with unloaded mobs causes an FPS drop which I have now resolved.

Third, I am going to start moving items to the dynamic loading system. Items are the biggest thing to load, so I am hoping to cut loading times by around 80%, and also reduce the memory footprint required while playing. The only difference players will notice is that equipment will load when you login- a feature of most modern RPGs to improve performance.

Finally, I have been improving some of the dynamic graphics features in Jappy's absence. Shadows will animate smoother and be cast in the correct direction. Trees and other objects will also start casting shadows. Item colours will also make a return and item glows will also be reintroduced. I am also going to get stars working (star flicker when holding an activation item or an angel)

First lot of optimizations. You should notice loading times are many times quicker now as sprites load on-demand.

- Updated the hotbar border to be thinner to fit in with the rest of the v2 dialogs.
- Added warehouse dialog box.
- Equipment sprites now load on-demand.
- Shadows made smoother and better aligned.
- Added Star twinkle for activation items.
- Weapon colours added back to game.
- Merien plate mails given base green colour.
- Fixed elvine cityhall teleports which were incorrectly putting players in aresden town.
- Fixed animation bug for certain mobs.
- Fixed incorrect colours showing on shields for male characters.

1) This is intended. The auto updater checks versions and only updates what is needed. The auto updater download is only available separately during testing.

2) This is also intended. Pings are rejected by the firewall at the current server location during testing.

The content loader cannot load a file or cannot find a file. Sounds like you have a missing file? Maybe a font or something.

Some more early optimization, bug fixes, polish and loot table work this week.

Item colours now working again
You can now double click items to move them between Warehouse and the Inventory (works in both classic and v2 bag).
Battle staffs added to loot tables.
Removed hypen from name of Orc Mage.
Item balance worked on.
Added angels to dynamic loading.
Added angel stat increases to the stats screen in brackets.
Added angel sparkle effect.
Reduced the number of off-screen cells and scenery to draw depending on detail mode to improve performance.
Added new high-detail lightning effect.
Sparkle effects only available in high detail mode
Fixed human idle animation speed.
Fixed bug with star twinkle when character logs out.
Fixed some missing item sprites in the new dynamic loading system.
Fixed angel descriptions.
Fixed missing content files on the auto updater

Bug List

-Both Male and Female hair sprites are incorrectly colored in the sprites themselves.

-Switching between Classic and V2 dialog settings for spellbook and inventory doesn't check to see if the dialog boxes are currently open resulting in being able to open both types at the same time. Switching between modes should force close the dialogbox and reopen the new one if the old one was open.

-Sound and Music buttons are visual broken in the settings dialog box but function correctly. Clicking on Music just changes the color and not the text of the music selection. Clicking on Sound works perfect for sound but also controls the text shown for the music selection.

-When logging out of the game, after hitting the logout button. The game doesn't display a continue button. This should be shown exactly where the logout button is. Functionality for it is already built in though as clicking on Logout while Logging out will stop the logout feature.

-The HUD could use a hunger bar

-Switching between High/medium/Low detail mode while in Debug mode kills fps. Low detail = 60fps, medium = 50 fps, high = 40fps. Find out whats behind that. Also create a texture for the boxes displayed instead of drawing them each time. Double check to see if this is done with Overlay mode already for less draw calls.

Mobs with messed up shadows still
-Slime
-Scorpion
-Snake
-Hellhound
-Tigerworm
-Frost

-Shadows might not be transparent enough. Kind of looks funny when overlapping other mobs.

-Beholder attack doesn't freeze player

-Dark-Elf sprite has bright green hands/arrow tips.

-Wyvern/Fire-Wyvern sprites are still weird. Sometimes they are invisble, sometimes not.

-Abaddon sprites are bad also. He appears but it looks real bad.

-Being flown by mobs freezes players input for a split second. It feels as if you are stuck.

-Logout doesn't cancel if you move

-Overlay displays incorrectly on most magics.

-Procella map has incorrect maptiles all around

-If dialog transparency is on and in unlocked HUD mode, all HUD items appear the same regardless of if they are invisible or not.

-When paralyzed, your character attempts to move which causes you to bump because you cannot move. Not sure if the same thing happens when a player is flown because of damage while paralyzed.

-Unable to paralyze self, tried a bunch of maps. Unsure if you can paralyze your own town either.

-After adding 200 int + 200 mag my casting prob stayed the same, changing maps didn't reset it based upon current player stats either. Logging out and logging back in fixed the problem. Stat bonuses might not be updated correctly.

-Endurance can go below 0 on items, So far only seen it happen from the death penalty.

-HUD visible/invisible status is not saved during log out.

-Other players casted spell words contain boxes.

-APFM has a random period at the end of its spell name.

-Logging out doesn't reload the account information from the database so it displays old information when selecting characters.

-Weather effects happen inside arejail, might happen in other dungeons/buildings also.

Coming soon in v0.9

Yes, we are almost there. Jumping straight up to 0.9 in the next public release as there is not so much testing left to do. There are a few completed features to go in such as guild and event dialogs, and 2 new concepts explained below.

The following features are brand new and have been in the pipeline since the beginning of the project; IF I were ever to release the game, which is looking like the case now. Note that although they have been thoroughly considered, they are subject to testing.

New Feature - Rebirth

Acquiring it's namesake from my first server, Rebirthing is a process of powering up a character after they obtain certain goals. Strictly a PVE feature, it works very similarly to prestige in FPS games.

Currently rebirthing is going to be designed to require progressively huge amounts of Exp (majestic points) after reaching max level, and may also require an item (purely for gold sink purposes.

Mechanics
- You can rebirth a maximum of 50 times
- each rebirth requires more and more majestic points
- your character will go back to level 1 and lose all remaining majestic points
- all items, skills, spells will be retained (though int/level requirements remain)
- each rebirth allows a character 1 additional stat point
- rebirth points can push stats over their max stat limit
- new items,spells and abilities will be available for players over the stat limit
- rebirth points cannot be reallocated
- player names will show a rebirths icon with number of rebirths

This will be a major PVE system designed for end-game. There are a lot more directions it can go, with more info explained later.


New Feature - PvP Only Characters

And now one for PvPers. Another of my legacy namesakes returns in the form off Gladiator Points. PvP-only characters are exactly what it says on the tin. Remove the need to grind or hunt monsters and enjoy PvP as soon as you log in.

Mechanics
- PvP characters start at max level and cannot gain experience
- PvP characters can reset stats at any time in city hall
- PvP characters can create items using a PvP interface
- PvP character do not have gold, they have gladiator points
- PvP characters cannot buy,sell, trade or pickup items, and all items they create or purchase (using glad points) are bound.
- PvP characters play along side PvE characters
- PvP characters get a robust unlocking system based on enemy kills

PvP unlock system
This system is a way to give PvP characters something to do. All new PvP characters start with accessibility to all standard items and can apply the first few levels of stats to them, for example: hit probability 15%. They can then 'spend' their gladiator points to unlock the higher % levels. Gladiator points are obtained when killing players and is the primary currency for these type of characters.

As well as item stats, they can also rent various 'rare' items like activations and spell books. Eks still exist to buy hero and godly. Rings and necklaces are not considered rare, so you can use the low-end ones as soon as you start. Ultimately, PvP characters will have the best start in terms of player killing, and allows new players to compete with heavily armoured PvE characters.

1 of the main caveats is that they cannot rebirth, meaning a seasoned PvE char will always have the slight edge. This will be carefully considered so that a top-end PvP character can compete well with a high rebirth PvE character, and hopefully base a 1v1 on skill rather than equipment.

Some PvE features will affect PvP characters. For example, PvE characters can drop flags to improve abilities for party members in ear shot. These can affect PvP characters by improving gladiator points per kill.

I am considering allowing PvP characters to use items within the same account, which can be transferred using an account-wide warehouse tab. However, this is a recent development and may require a glad point rental fee if the item's abilities/stats are not unlocked.

from the looks of it the server alpha/beta is going great for yall I may put some effort into testing the new pvp/pve character types I have 1 question though will there be a safe zoning option for pve characters with like low drop and exp lvls if they feel like the pvp characters over run the server? maybe as a later addition? maybe even a PvE only map that PvE players may hunt and ek at only? only a few thoughts and questions.

I haven't worked on it over Christmas as I was away from home. Once I catch up with my real work this week, I'll start posting some updates and get the server online for the final testing bits before we go live.

Hi All,

Firstly, no the server is not online at the moment.

Here's what I've been working on for version 0.7.7. Another new feature I wanted to introduce since the start is public events. Unlike global events like heldenian and crusade, these are short, optional map-based events.

First lets have a look at a couple of screenshots. The first screenshot shows when an event starts. Our minimap receives an icon to show the location, and the event list tells us an event has started nearby.

The second screenshot shows us joining an event. Depending on the event, participation criteria varies. In a "Defence" event, being in the vicinity of the event is enough.

Human AI will spawn to stop you from completing your objective. By completing these events, you get loot. Loot quality depends on how well you did. If you completely failed, for example the GMG is destroyed, you get nothing.

Event difficulty scales up as more people join, and PvP is enabled as normal, so these events can become hot spots for some fun PvP- especially in towns. Higher difficulties means smarter AI, heavier armour/weapons and of course, better rewards!

There are currently 5 types of events in the pipeline, I will give more info soon: Ambush, Escort, Elimination, Defence, Constructor.

There are a lot of other behind-the-scenes stuff going on as well, so don't worry about too many "new" features being added before release. I need to get some of the ground work in to make it better in the long run. Hopefully by showing these new features, it creates some hype around the project :)

Hello again Vamp

Then I dont know what is wrong, my updater doesnt seem to wanna update to the 0.7.6 patch or whatever its called. When I click launch it opens client, but says its version 0.7.2

The writing in the updater is in danish and says:

This pace cannot be shown
Control that the website xxx is correct
search for the website with the search engine
update the site in a few minutes

I hope you can help, as I really wanna get in and check ur work out
